Optimal Probability Distribution and Applicable Minimum Time-Scale for Daily Standardized Precipitation Index Time Series in South Korea

چکیده
The Standardized Precipitation Index (SPI) is a standardized measure of the variability precipitation and widely used for drought assessment around world. In general, probability distribution to calculate SPI in many studies Gamma. addition, monthly time-scale applied assess based on atmospheric moisture supply over medium-to-long term. However, distributions other than Gamma are various regions, need daily emerging as concerns about fresh increase. There two main innovations our work. first that we investigate optimal SPIs rather SPIs, second address issue determining minimum can be when applying time-scale. this study, minimum-applicable calculating using time series observed 42 years at 56 sites South Korea. Six candidate (Gumbel, Gamma, GEV, Log-logistic, Log-normal, Weibull) ten time-scales (5 day, 10 15 21 30 60 90 180 270 365 day) were SPI. A chi-square test AIC appropriate each time-scale, normality derived from compared. Weibull was suitable short days or less, while GEV longer more. overall, found best distribution. While there some regional variations, could per season follows: spring summer, fall, winter. It shown depends how zero values included moving cumulative-precipitation series, it have less 2.5%. Finally, applicability investigated.

Correlation Analysis and Analysis of Drought Time Series Based on Modis Satellite Images and Standardized Precipitation Climatic Index (SPI) on the eastern slope of Zagros
Introduction Drought is one of the environmental disasters that is very frequent in arid and semi-arid regions of the country. Rainfall defects have different effects on groundwater, soil moisture, and river flow. Meteorological drought indices are calculated directly from meteorological data such as rainfall and will not be useful in monitoring drought if the data are missing. Therefore remot...
متن کاملOptimal Deseasonalization for Monthly and Daily Geophysical Time Series
Deseasonalized geophysical time series are often used in time series models (Hipel and McLeod 1994). In this article an optimal method for selecting the deseasonalization transformation is suggested and an R package implementation (McLeod and Gweon 2012) is discussed. Our deseasonalization method may be used with the recently developed periodic autoregression model for daily river flow suggeste...
متن کاملmodification of standardized precipitation index (spi) based on relevant probability distribution function
abstract spi is based on fitting a gamma distribution to precipitation amounts in selected periods. based on current research, the gamma distribution may not be fitted to annual precipitation of some regions. in order to evaluate this subject, annual precipitation have been used during 1958- 2007 at 11 synoptic stations in iran. in first step, values of spi and frequency of different classes of...
متن کاملCOMPARISON BETWEEN MINIMUM AND NEAR MINIMUM TIME OPTIMAL CONTROL OF A FLEXIBLE SLEWING SPACECRAFT
In this paper, a minimum and near-minimum time optimal control laws are developed and compared for a rigid space platform with flexible links during an orientating maneuver with large angle of rotation. The control commands are considered as typical bang-bang with multiple symmetrical switches, the time optimal control solution for the rigid-body mode is obtained as a bang-bang function and app...
